DETROIT - RISE AGAIN
“ To my dad, who turned his obsession into my addiction”
A fallen city. Images that seem to resemble apocalyptic scenarios, outplayed by the rise and fall of the car industry, the declining economy and a history, overshadowed by riots.
The Lee Plaza hotel, an empty shell, with rooms full of stories, that don’t resemble its former glory and upscale living. Its elegance is long gone, its precious insides stolen. Maneuvering through the fifteen stories high rise, broken glass, corridors filled with clothes knee deep, looking for inspiration.
It became a treasure hunt, a treasure hunt for chairs.
Soundbites taken from DETROPIA – A Film by Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady and edited by Maria Loewenstein
